“ The fresh, cooked in front of you, £5 lunch deal is 90% white rice with the rest being your choice of filling: sweet & sour chicken, salt & pepper chicken, there's a beef dish and a nasi goreng (tofu or chicken) and so on. You can also make up your own box from a choice of various noodles, rice, again predominately chicken as the meat and sauces like satay. It's a one pot lunch meal with the rice popped in the centre first then the cooked food topping added at the side. There was fragrance to the food, fresh perfumed curry leaves in some dishes too. I'd initially thought 3/4 star given the abundance of white rice but as a factory made sandwich from a supermarket can cost £3/4 and this is tasty, fresh and hot it's fair to pitch it 5 stars but the 'Chinese' mains are not very good. The sweet & sour sauce was thick and a coating which isn't enough given the small meat portion and the predominance of boiled rice. The salt & pepper too just lacked good flavour. Oh there's a Greggs just across the street. They are the exception to supermarket sandwiches as they offer a meal deal, with a, made on the premises, sandwich, crisps and drink for less than £5. I opted for the tofu nasi goreng and it was quite good 4 star of itself. It was sure better than the sweet & sour and salt and chilli dishes at just about 3 stars each. Next time I go I'll avoid the boiled rice Chinese style dishes and opt for the nasi with more fresh chilli as it lacked a kick for me. The place was very busy, both sit in and like me take away. 5 take out meals cost me £25. ”
“ Really pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Japanese food... all fresh and made to order ... sushi and noodles ”
“ Although the decor is more cafe than restaurant, the food was great and my family and I enjoyed eating here. I've had takeaway from Osechi One but feel the food is much better if you eat in. The Bento boxes are great and the prices are very reasonable. Will definitely visit again. ”
